An external-rotor brushless DC motor is a motor powered by a DC power supply, with the rotor located outside the motor and the stator located inside the motor. Compared with traditional brushed DC motors, external rotor brushless DC motors do not require brushes to make contact with the brushes, so they have higher efficiency, lower noise and longer life. The external rotor brushless DC motor consists of a stator and a rotor. There are several coils wound around the stator, which are excited by current to generate a magnetic field. There are permanent magnets on the rotor. When the stator magnetic field interacts with the rotor magnetic field, torque is generated, causing the rotor to rotate. The external rotor brushless DC motor uses an electronic commutator (also called a driver or controller) to control the direction and magnitude of the current to achieve the rotation of the motor. The electronic commutator controls the direction and magnitude of current based on rotor position and speed, allowing the motor to operate with high efficiency and precise control. External rotor brushless DC motors have many advantages, including high efficiency, high torque density, fast dynamic response, low noise, long life and reliability.
