A four-quadrant triac is an electronic device, also known as a four-quadrant triac. It is similar to a three-quadrant triac (TRIAC) but has a wider range of applications. A four-quadrant triac can conduct in both the positive and negative half cycles and can be triggered at both forward and reverse voltages. This allows it to be used in more applications, including motor control, power factor correction, AC power conditioning, etc. A four-quadrant triac usually consists of two antiparallel thyristors (SCRs) that can conduct current in both directions. Its characteristics allow it to have more flexible power control functions in AC circuits.
